STRUCTURES

* What is energy? (¿Qué es la energía?).

* We say that something has got energy if it can make something move or change position. (Decimos que algo tiene energía si puede hacer que algo se mueva o cambie de posición).

* There are different forms of energy: (Hay diferentes formas de energía):

   1. LIGHT ENERGY. Objects with light have got it. (ENERGÍA LUMINOSA. Los objetos con luz la tienen).

   2. ELECTRICAL ENERGY makes machines in our home work. (La ENERGÍA ELÉCTRICA hace que funcionen las máquinas de nuestra casa).

   3. MECHANICAL ENERGY is in the objects that move. (La ENERGÍA MECÁNICA está en los objetos que se mueven).

   4. THERMAL ENERGY is energy from heat. (La ENERGÍA TÉRMICA es la energía del calor).

     5. CHEMICAL ENERGY is stored in food, in batteries and in fuel. (La ENERGÍA QUÍMICA se almacena en la comida, las pilas y en el combustible ).

* Energy can transform from one form to another. (La energía puede transformarse de una forma a otra).

* There are two types of energy sources: (Hay dos tipos de fuentes de energía).

   1. RENEWABLE ENERGY SOURCES will never run out (wind, water and sunlight). (Las FUENTES DE ENERGÍA RENOVABLES no se agotarán: viento, agua y luz solar).

   2. NON-RENEWABLE ENERGY SOURCES will run out (coal, petroleum and natural gas). These are called fossil fuels. (Las FUENTES DE ENERGÍA NO RENOVABLES se agotarán: carbón, petróleo y gas natural. Se llaman combustibles fósiles).

* We can save energy: (Podemos ahorrar energía:)

   1. Keep the fridge door closed. (Mantener la puerta del frigorífico cerrada).

   2. Only use the washing machine with a full load. (Sólo utilizar la lavadora con una carga completa).

   3. Control the temperature of the heating and air conditioning. (Controlar la temperatura de la calefacción y el aire acondiconado).

   4. Use public transport. (Usar transporte público).

   5. Use low consumption light bulbs. (Usar bombillas de bajo consumo).

   6. Turn off lights when they are not needed. (Apagar las luces cuando no se necesiten).
