UNIT 1 «RELACIÓN/ INTERACTION “

En esta unidad conoceremos  los principales componentes del sistema nervioso del ser humano y las funciones de cada uno de ellos; el funcionamiento del sistema nervioso; el sentido del tacto (partes implicadas y primeros auxilios ante una quemadura); cómo funcionan la vista, el oído, el olfato y el gusto;  la relación entre el sentido del gusto y el del olfato;  cómo cuidar del sistema nervioso; salud y seguridad en el colegio (la importancia de detectar si no ven o no oyen bien en clase para detectar a tiempo problemas de visión u oído y la importancia de no correr dentro de clase). En esta ficha se recoge el vocabulario y las estructuras que el alumnado debe aprender junto con unos enlaces de vídeos que serán de utilidad para repasar los contenidos estudiados.

STRUCTURES

* The nervous system is made up of the brain, the spinal cord, and a large network of nerves. (El sistema nervioso se compone de encéfalo, médula espinal y un largo sistema de nervios). 

*The brain is the coordinating centre of the nervous system. It controls all of the bodyʼs activity. (El encéfalo es el centro de coordinación del sistema nervioso, Controla toda la actividad del cuerpo).

*Nerve tissue is made up of nerve cells. Nerve cells (neurons) have a shape that allows them to transmit electrochemical messages from one to another. (El tejido nervioso está compuesto por células nerviosas. Las células nerviosas (neuronas) tienen una forma que les permite transmitir mensajes electroquímicos entre unas y otros).

*We can feel pressure, temperature and textures with our skin. We can hear sound with our ears. Itʼs important to look after our senses. (Podemos sentir la presión, la temperatura y las texturas con nuestra piel. Podemos escuchar sonidos con nuestros oídos. Es importante cuidar nuestros sentidos).

* The skin is made up of three layers: the epidermis, the dermis and a layer of fatty tissue.. (La piel está compuesta por tres capas: la epidermis, la dermis y el tejido adiposo).

* The parts of the ear are: eardrum, small bones, cochlea and auditory nerve. (Las partes del oído son: tímpano, huesecillos, cóclea y nervio auditivo).

* We can see the colour, movement and the distance of objects with our eyes. We should protect our eyes when necessary. (Podeos ver el color, el movimiento y las distancias de los objetos co nuestros ojos. Debeos proteger nuestros ojos cuando sea necesario).

* The parts of the eye are: iris, pupil, retina, cornea, lens and the optic nerve. (Las partes del ojo son: iris, pupila, retina, córnea, cristalino y nervio óptico).

* We can detect flavour with our tongue. We can detect smell with our nose. The mouth and the nose are connected. (Podemos detectar los sabores con nuestra lengua y los olores con nuestra nariz. La boca y la nariz están conectadas).

* The locomotor system is made up of two systems: the skeletal system and the muscular system. (El aparato locomotor se compone de dos sistemas: el esquelético y el muscular). It works in combination with our senses and our nervous system to help us interact with the world around us. (Ambos trabajan conjuntamente con nuestros sentidos y sistema nervioso para relacionarnos con el medio que nos rodea).

* The skeletal system gives us support and stability as we move around and protects our vital organs. It’s made up of bones, joints and ligaments. (El sistema esquelético nos da soporte y estabilidad cuando nos movemos y protege nuestros órganos vitales).

*The muscular system allows us to move and perform voluntary actions such as waving our hand, and involuntary actions such as breathing. It’s made up of muscles and tendons. (El sistema muscular nos permite movernos y realizar acciones voluntarias como saludar con la mano, o involuntarias como respirar. Está compuesto por músculos y tendones).
