STRUCTURES

·         Depending on how living things obtain their food, they can be producers, consumers, scavengers or decomposers.

·         Producers are living things that make their own food (plants, Algae)

·         Primary consumers feed on producers (Herbivores)

·         Secondary consumers feed on primary consumers (carnivores)

·         Tertiary consumers feed on secondary consumers (carnivores)

·         Scavengers feed on the remains of dead animals.

·         Decomposers are microoganisms and fungi that break down dead animals and plant material.

·         Food chains show how living things feed on other living things in an ecosystem.

·         Food webs are made up of many food chains joined together and interconnected.

·         Mutualism is the relationship between two species when both benefit.

·         Commensalism is the relationship between two species when one benefit and the other remains unaffected.

·         Parasitism is the relationship between two species when one benefit while the other suffers.

·         Competition is the relationship between different species that have the same needs.
