· A map is a flat representation of the whole Earth or of parts of it.
· Parallels are imaginary lines that circle the Earth parallel to Equator.
· Meridians are imaginary lines that run from pole to pole.
· A physical world map, or relief map of the world, shows the different relief features on Earth. It shows the continents, seas and oceans, as well as the main mountains and rivers.
· A political world map shows the location, size and borders of all the countries in the world.
